Create a virtual environment

Create an isolated environment for the project's packages.

python -m venv .venv

Use the environment's Python and packages in this shell. On Windows run .venv\Scripts\activate.

source .venv/bin/activate

Install FastAPI with the standard extras: the fastapi command, Uvicorn and the other common dependencies.

pip install "fastapi[standard]"
