tmux 3: Panes

8 common tmux 3 tasks.

Split side by side

Split the pane into left and right panes.

Ctrl-b %

Split the pane into upper and lower panes.

Ctrl-b "

Move to the pane in a direction using the arrow keys, or to the next pane with o.

Ctrl-b Arrow  /  Ctrl-b o

Toggle the current pane between full window and its normal size.

Ctrl-b z

Resize towards a direction. Hold Ctrl after the prefix to resize in larger steps.

Ctrl-b Ctrl-Arrow

Cycle through the preset layouts.

Ctrl-b Space

Kill the current pane after confirmation.

Ctrl-b x

Move the current pane into a new window.

Ctrl-b !
